1. Destroying the Top Coat Seal
Acrylic enhancements are usually sealed with a UV Gel Top Coat. Pure acetone physically cannot penetrate this plastic top coat.
- The Protocol: You must take a coarse, 100-grit nail file and aggressively file the entire shiny top layer off every single nail. You must physically rough up the acrylic until it appears entirely dull, matte, and scratched. This exposes the raw acrylic underneath so the solvent can actually enter the structure.
2. The 100% Pure Acetone Bath
Regular drugstore nail polish remover (which is mostly water and fragrance) will absolutely not work. You need heavy clinical solvents.
- The Protocol: You must purchase 100% Pure Acetone. Pour the acetone into a small glass bowl. Coat the raw skin tightly surrounding your cuticles in thick petroleum jelly (like Vaseline) to protect your skin from intense chemical dehydration.
