What causes dark circles?

Dark circles are not one problem. They can come from:

• Thin or dry skin that lets the darker blood vessels underneath show through.
• Pigmentation in the skin itself.
• Volume loss under the eye, which creates a shadow or hollow.
• Puffiness or bags, which can cast a shadow below them.

Knowing the cause matters, because each one needs a different approach and some cannot be treated with injections at all.

Skin booster or under-eye filler?

An under-eye skin booster uses fine injections of a hyaluronic acid-based formula to hydrate the skin, soften fine lines and improve overall skin quality. It does not add volume, so it is not suitable for hollows or bags caused by volume loss.

Under-eye filler is a thicker gel that adds volume to a hollow. It is a different treatment with its own risks, and the eye area needs particular care because of the blood vessels nearby.

What to expect from a skin booster

• Numbing cream is usually applied first.
• A course of treatments is usually recommended for the best result.
• Swelling, small bumps or bruising can last a few days. Avoid rubbing the area, sleep with your head slightly raised, and skip make-up for at least 24 hours.
• Seek urgent medical help if you notice vision changes, unusual pain or the skin turning pale or grey.
